Odours from organic compounds found in general air pollution and process emissions from factories and process plants can constitute both a nuisance to residents living in proximity to the process plant and sometimes serious health risks if they are not controlled. Odour Treatment with Activated Carbon can remove the odour causing molecules permanently.
Activated carbon is a microporous inert carbon matrix with a very large internal surface (700 to 1 500 m²/g). The internal surface is ideal for adsorption. Activated carbon is made from materials containing amorphous carbon, such as wood, coal, peat, coconut shells
Simdean have designed and installed carbon adsorbers to remove odours from gas streams with flowrates up to 70,000 m3/h through a single unit. Simdean have built both deep bed and annular units with the annular units generally used for large air flowrate units
In general, the adsorbers are provided with a steelwork structure below the adsorber housing, to allow ease of maintenance and or replacement of the carbon within the adsorber.
The adsorber housings are designed and manufactured in accordance with BS4994.
